Dutch Police arrest teen for virtual crime
http://www.expatica.com/actual/artic...story_id=45939
This must be a first. There was a long article in New Scientist last year about virtual crime and a discussion on what should be done about it, because allowing virtual crime to go unpunished sends a message that crime is ok.
Think about it. Someone sells you duped armbraces, you get conned out of your hard-earned ectos and banned as a result and you can go to the police. Could change the face of gaming.
Certainly a big advance on /report.

Well he should've been arrested because he stole something that was paid for with real money. 4000 dollars just to have virtual furniture that's pretty low.

True enough, it's the same as making a false ebay account and selling things that don't exist and pissing off with the money. Real world currency is real world currency whether stolen in the real world or online.
A kid hacks a bank and makes 10 grand that's BIG crime.

Does this mean we can charge Gaile Gray for lying and conspiracy to sell drugs and alchols to teens (since majority of the players are not 18 yet) and robbery for selling us Eotn at 40 bucks when the game should have been offered at 10 dollars because the lack of contents. Not to mention... she has WMDs so that would add more counts into her record!
Wammos
Mass
Destruction
For nerfing the hell out of wammos so they died alot! rofl..

Well, if you look at it that way, I think we would have a good case. Gaile, I'll see you in court!
The article didn't load for me, is it possible to post a different link? Thanks.

Then we'll end up getting a lot of Wammos suing the monks because the monks couldn't keep them alive from 20 monsters pounding on them.
And against Anet because Mending is useless, and Frenzy + Heal Sig combo should be amazing, not instant death.
And the monsters for killing him.

That's the only link I have. What you can try, is going to www.expatica.com, select the netherlands and then search for "virtual thief". It's the first story to come up.
